Shooting Scenario Evaluation

I enjoyed my video because it was simple with a strong storyline. Also it one of my best piece of work  so far.The  strength I had with my video scenario was the storyline because the storyline was strong it kept the viewers watching. The shot composition was great because I had a great vision at the beginning. Also I thought of ideas now and then during the filming. The weakness I had with my video scenario was coming up with the concept at the beginning, i had a a basic concept that was not thought out well. The sound quality could of been better during the bathroom scene.

At the beginning I had a fall out with one of my team mates who didn't want to act out a role that I wanted her to do but worked out for the better because I came up with a better concept. The audience loved my video I got lots positive feedback. The feedback I got from my peers was good storyline, superb quality and done professionally. If I was to do it again I would improve my storyline and my direct my actors a bit more. The product roles i done for my video scenario was me being the camera ,director

Unit 16 Introduction to editing

The Gloaming

Editing is the process of selecting different shots and combining them together to create a story (narrative).
Long shots are used to show scenario or if a character is by herself it shows she is lonely.Non diagetic sound  Sound which has a source neither visible on the screen nor implied in the action ± narrator's commentary (voice over) .Also sound effects which are added for dramatic effect and the score / mood music

Elliptical editing makes screen time shorter than story time by cutting out unnecessary actions; condenses time by inferring total actions we only see in part.(here is a example below).
There is a difference between the “natural” story time and narrative, plot or screen time. Essentially recording natural time would require filming every movement in real time. If a woman leaves her house after receiving a phone call. If this sequence was recorded in natural time it would require at least 30 minutes. So Elliptical editing is when you take out the  clips that don't really need to be their to speed up things.Reaction shot is when you get a facial expression of someone face for example if someone is shocked or angry which gives you idea of how the person feeling.Shot reverse shot is a shot of one of one subject, then back to the first. It is often used for conversation or reaction shot.

Cross-cutting is an editing technique most often used in films to establish action occurring at the same time in two different locations. In a cross-cut, the camera will cutaway from one action to another action.
Jump cut Transitional device in which two similar images taken at different times are cut together so that the elision of intervening time is apparent. From this the audience infers that time has passed.

• How do we know she is bending down to pick up the ring? (what shots are used and why?)

Hustle

Establishing shot in film and television sets up, or establishes the context for a scene the relationship between its important figures and objects.over wide shot gives a over head view of all the characters sitting down looking up at the bar tender. A Eyeline shot  shows us what a character is seeing. In film editing, a wipe is a gradual spatial transition from one image to another which creates a tension.A  flashback scene in a movie, novel, etc., set in a time earlier than the main story
